I feel like sometimes we focus too much on the cutesy, polished stuff on DA's front page and don't see the less popular but far more powerful artwork. Traditional art offers so much depth and subtlety. Here are some of my favorite paintings. Enjoy the rich colors and textures.

I very much prefer digital art, but yeah, when drawings are all focused on cuteness and details, they become flat and boring : |

These works are gorgeous, though.

Yeah, I've seen some amazing digital drawings (and I've also seen traditional art that is flat and dull.) But yeah, some people make their stuff a little TOO polished and it loses a lot of character. Idk how many times I've seen a portrait that was almost flawlessly realistic, but the eyes were empty and the picture had no emotion.

Yes, that sucks. That's why I prefer more sketchy and bright stuff. People are running for perfection and spoiling everything with it.

Me too, and yeah, so many things can go wrong and you can't just delete it. Imperfections give it character, though.

I love traditional art~!

I don't think there's just cutesy stuff and so very polished pieces on the frontpage, mostly. I've noticed there are seasons on what's on the frontpage...:D
It's quite fun~
I love both kinds of art~

Yeah, I've seen some awesome stuff there, too. I just wish that more pieces like this would end up on the front page  There's some seriously incredible art on DA that never gets noticed.

True, true... and it's so unfortunate! Instead of new and mostly disliked updates, there should be such update, that randomly chooses some pieces of art every day, to be displayed somewhere, where they're visible. Maybe that way, more of the beautiful, yet never noticed pieces would get more attention~

I didnt even know that dA had such artwork(I cant believe its uncoticed!) This was truley an amazing feature. And I believe some of these amazing artworks belong on the front page, cause they are just that amazing.

I love traditional paintings for their perfection. You can't take back a brushstroke, you just have to deal with it and own it.

Exactly, and imperfections like that often give the art character. Some (not all) digital art is too polished for me.

Sometimes it's completely breathtaking. Once I mixed up a picture, song and story I created in my head and I just stared at the thing for minutes, dumbfounded. Too much art at once, if there is such a thing xD
